Photos by HighwayStar Sean Reilly Wekfest first show in Miami was back in 2014 with a strong showing of beautiful cars (and beautiful ladies). This year was no exception. Held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center once again, there was already a line (for both show cars and spectators) waiting to get in to see many of these awesome machines. Photos by HighwayStar Sean Reilly and HighwayStar Patrick I Love Driving Slow Winterfest usually rounds out the year for many of us car enthusiasts in the Florida area. This year was slightly different though. I Love Driving Slow (ILDS) decided to change the venue this year due to the overwhelming attendance of last year’s show. This year’s venue was the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, FL. With a new venue, there is bound to be a little confusion day of the event, but the staff that ILDS had gathered handled all the obstacles during the event (even the Porsche that caught fire leaving the venue). As with any show, vendors are asked to show up pretty early. But that is okay because that some times mean some very beautiful sunrise photos… …and some early morning prep photos as well. Though, some people’s preps are different than others. As HighwayStar Manny preps with a beer, a sandwich and a middle finger to Roxanne, hahaha! As more and more cars were allowed in (first the Fresh 100, then the rest of show and spectators), a large diverse amount of cars started to fill the area. As the show came to a close, we think ILDS definitely found their new home for Winterfest for years to come! Everyone is always asking me what it means to be a HighwayStar. To me it means time, and the concept of it. Time is like life once you lose it you can never get it back. It means to push beyond your exhaustion, your mental tiredness, the mile markers, the rest stops, the hotels and continue driving to your destination. To make your destination in the time table you planned out, not because you had to but because you WANTED to. That to me is what this is about, driving to visit family, friends a show to make a delivery or just because it’s what makes you appreciate life. Find what makes you tick. xoxo manny

The anxiety. It wasn’t until the day before the rally when I was driving to Tampa that it hit me. What we are doing is highly illegal and there will be 95 other cars all trying to do the same thing as me. Get there first. I started thinking of the obvious things how I didn’t want to speed, go to jail, hurt someone, hurt my car. The more I thought about it the more I talked myself out of it. The roads we were taking we some of the most crowded in Florida. It was on a Saturday. The busiest time for driving, shopping and families. I told myself this was the worst idea I had ever had. Previous months before I had met Nate, one of the founders of the 8ball rally. He had told me what the idea was. High stakes poker run, 80s themed, run what you brung. He loved HighwayStar and what we stood for. The road and the stories they tell. Me being intoxicated when I met him I gladly signed on. I followed him and Rudy for almost a year til I actually met Rudy in person. The only word I can use to describe him is firecracker. This dude is about his business but is as live as they come. Weeks prior to the rally I decided not only to treat myself to a birthday present but to change the look of Roxanne. I sourced a new hood and front bumper but headaches, delayed shipments, crappy sellers led to a lot of sleepless nights and a week before he rally, the car breaks down. But 3 days before the rally everything was fixed. Thanks to the guys […]
